镇尺”是放置在书桌案头上的文房用品,又叫纸镇或镇纸。有金、银、铜、玉、木、竹、石、瓷等材质,形态各异,唯求有一定的分量,便可压纸。上面的雕刻有各种图画和诗词名句。它们有的成对,有的单件;有的一字一画,有的独立成幅,书、画、文辞、雕刻集于一身,使人爱不释手,历来是一种收藏珍品。

 

镇纸”所谓镇纸,即指写字作画时用以压纸的东西,现今常见的多为长方条形,因故也称作镇尺、压尺。最初的镇纸是不固定形状的。镇纸的起源是由于古代文人时常会把小型的青铜器、玉器放在案头上把玩欣赏,因为它们都有一定的分量,所以人们在玩赏的同时,也会顺手用来压纸或者是压书,久而久之,发展成为一种文房用具——镇纸。
